The Seed Fund supports countries in turning climate and nature commitments into coordinated action by providing catalytic funding, technical support and strategic partnerships for Country Packages as part of the Forest & Climate Leaders’ Partnership (FCLP).

The Seed Fund is funded through contributions from the Government of France, the Rob Walton Foundation, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and Conservation International.

Our global team brings together expertise in climate and nature finance, grant-making and conservation delivery. We combine technical knowledge with on-the-ground experience to design practical solutions and support locally led initiatives.
Meet our experts
Matteo leads the Seed Fund, providing overall strategic direction and oversight across the Secretariat and Delivery teams. He engages with governments, partners and donors to shape Country Packages, guide investment priorities and mobilise financing.
Marion leads the Seed Fund’s financial planning and management, overseeing budgets, expenditure and reporting in line with donor and CI requirements. She supports strategic decision-making while ensuring strong governance and compliance across the portfolio.
Florencia oversees the Seed Fund’s full grantmaking cycle, from proposal review and due diligence through award, implementation and closeout. She ensures compliance with CI policies and donor requirements, while supporting grantees through financial oversight, monitoring and capacity support.
Patricia leads the Seed Fund’s strategic communications, shaping positioning and messaging for donors, governments and partners to support engagement and resource mobilization. She drives donor communications, brand identity and visibility, and translates complex technical work into clear, compelling narratives across platforms.
Henry leads the Seed Fund’s monitoring, evaluation and learning framework, ensuring robust tracking of results and impact across the portfolio. He supports grant design and performance monitoring, working closely with country teams to strengthen data, reporting and adaptive management.
Sofia oversees the Seed Fund’s project delivery across the full cycle, ensuring coordination of timelines, budgets and stakeholder engagement. She tracks progress, supports reporting and donor requirements, and works across teams to maintain momentum.
Tom leads the technical development of the Seed Fund’s conservation strategy across Country Packages, working closely with governments and partners to shape priorities and approaches. He oversees the grant lifecycle and supports decision-making on grant design, awards and implementation.
Karine supports the Seed Fund by identifying and strengthening conservation financing mechanisms across Country Packages, including assessing gaps and opportunities for investment. She works with country teams and partners to shape financial approaches and align with broader nature finance initiatives.
Allie supports the Seed Fund by shaping its science strategy and identifying priority areas for investment and partnerships across Country Packages. She provides analytical input to guide country strategies and strengthen the scientific foundation of the Fund’s work.
Our governance
The Seed Fund is hosted and administered by Conservation International.
It is managed by a Secretariat, who staff and manage the fund, under the guidance of a Steering Committee made up of core donors.
Core donors are organisations that contribute €15 million or more to the Seed Fund.

The Seed Fund is committed to acknowledging and honouring the rights of its local partners and stakeholders while promoting inclusive decision-making processes. Our grievance mechanism is used to ensure prompt responses and suitable resolutions to any issues that may arise from our partners or stakeholders.
