Securing Nigeria’s Forest Future (SNFF) is Nigeria’s Country Package, a 10-year, government-led roadmap for saving forests. Its main goal is to restore, conserve, and sustainably manage forests and landscapes as a foundation for climate resilience, inclusive green growth, and improved livelihoods, while contributing to global climate and biodiversity goals. By 2036, SNFF aims to restore at least 2 million hectares of degraded forest land, reduce forest degradation by 20%, create approximately 1.5 million green jobs, and strengthen climate resilience and livelihoods for more than 5 million Nigerians.

The plan is organised around seven pillars:

  • Forest and landscape restoration
  • Ecotourism
  • Sustainable livelihoods and green jobs
  • Climate resilience and adaptation
  • Tenure reform, governance and rights
  • Forest measurement, reporting and verification and capacity
  • Financing and policy coherence

Together, these priorities provide a framework for aligning action and investment around Nigeria’s forests, communities and climate goals.
