The Peru Country Package: Climate Action for Forests and Nature is a national instrument that brings together international climate finance, technical assistance, and multilevel coordination to accelerate climate action in the Peruvian Amazon. It aims to advance the implementation of Peru’s Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement on climate change, focusing on measures related to land use and forests, helping reduce deforestation, conserving and restoring ecosystems, and promoting sustainable, low-carbon economies. Focusing on the Amazon rainforest, it integrates the priorities and capacities of national sectors, regional governments, and Indigenous Peoples. It also connects and strengthens existing policies and instruments, aligning action on the ground with Peru’s national and international commitments on climate, biodiversity, and forests. Through five strategic components, it addresses key challenges:

  • Land rights
  • Conservation and restoration
  • Sustainable production
  • Deforestation monitoring
  • Governance

In doing so, the Country Package seeks to turn Peru’s climate and forest priorities into concrete, coordinated, and investable action by 2030.
